Really enjoying Dark Woods colognes from Weatherbeard. All three scents share two things in common: they’re all woodsy, and they all have oud giving a resinous depth to the scent profile. Here’s a quick breakdown of the scents:
- Cedar Crest: Deep, dark, and robust. Cedar takes center stage here, with fir providing a nice accent note. Very manly.
- Hinoki Heights: Hinoki gives a brighter top note that contrasts very nicely with base note of oud. There’s a certain calming quality to this one
- Amber Trail: The sandalwood note is sharp, and it’s smoothed out very nicely by the amber. The closest to a traditional cologne profile.
For those that buy designer fragrances, these will not replace your favorite $200 bottle, nor do I believe are they meant to. Given the all essential oil, no synthetic ingredient makeup, they are meant to give you an all natural fragrance experience. They also enhance the scent experience when combined with the Dark Woods beard oils. They will not announce your presence in the room, but the person sitting right next you will notice you smell good. Longevity is decent, clocking in for me at 4-6 hours.
Love the look of the bottle, with the clean labeling and forest silhouette. The name on the side of the bottle is a very nice touch. That’s how I have them displayed on my shelf, like three books with the spines facing out.
Overall, just a great collection of all natural woodsy colognes. Highly recommended, and a job very well done by Weatherbeard.
