What does beard balm do?

Men use beard balm to help control and style their facial hair. It also provides moisture for both the beard and the skin underneath thanks to the nourishing oils, butters, and beeswax in the formula. Its primary purpose is to provide hold throughout the day. Beard balm tames stray hairs, keeps your beard looking neat, and helps it stay in place.

Is it okay to use beard balm everyday?

Yes, you can use beard balm daily to shape and style your beard. Just like the hair on your head, your beard needs consistent care. The natural ingredients in quality balms (such as ours) nourish both your beard and the skin underneath when used regularly. Daily application keeps your beard healthier, softer, and more manageable than sporadic use.

Beard balm is especially effective for short to medium-length beards, providing the right balance of moisture and hold without weighing your beard down. It also helps control flyaway hairs, keeping your beard looking neat, well-groomed, and styled throughout the day.

When should I apply beard balm?

The best time to apply beard balm is in the morning, after you’ve applied beard oil. Let the oil absorb for a minute or two first—this gives you the perfect combination of hydration from the oil and styling control from the balm. Applying beard balm before you head out provides all-day hold and protection. Some men reapply throughout the day if they need a touch-up.

Should I sleep with beard balm in my beard?

We don't recommend sleeping with beard balm in your beard. The wax content that gives you daytime hold can transfer to your pillowcase and clog pores overnight. Your beard needs time to breathe and reset while you sleep.

Will beard balm help my beard grow?

Beard balm won’t directly make your beard grow faster. What it does do is create better conditions for healthy growth. It moisturizes the skin underneath and helps prevent existing hairs from breaking. Healthier beards look fuller and longer because you’re not losing length to damage and breakage.

Does beard balm keep your beard hairs straight?

We've created our beard balm specifically to style beards and straighten hairs. The beeswax provides strong enough hold to smooth out waves and keep even stubborn curls under control. You'll notice your beard laying flatter and neater right after application. For guys with really curly beards, combining our balm with a dedicated beard comb gives you maximum straightening power.

Do you wash beard balm out?

While beard balm is designed to be worn throughout the day, we recommend washing it out before bed with our gentle daily beard wash. Leaving balm in overnight can cause buildup, make your beard feel heavy, or clog pores on the skin underneath. Using our gentle beard wash removes the balm and keeps your beard clean, soft, and healthy. Daily cleansing also ensures your beard is ready to fully absorb fresh product when you reapply in the morning.

Should you use beard wash or oil after a shower?

We recommend applying beard oil right after your shower while your beard is still damp. The moisture helps the oil penetrate deeper into both your beard and the skin underneath. Let it absorb for a minute or two, then follow with beard balm for added hold and hydration—perfect if you’re heading out or want your beard styled and looking its best.

Beard Balm vs beard butter

We get asked about the difference between beard balm and beard butter all the time. Our beard balm contains beeswax and shea butter, providing real styling control for your beard.

Beard butter, on the other hand, contains no wax. It’s creamier and softer—almost like a thick lotion for your beard. It delivers deep conditioning and moisturizing benefits but isn’t meant for hold. Think of beard butter as a leave-in conditioner that makes your beard super soft and manageable.

Beard Balm vs beard oil

Beard oil and beard balm serve different purposes in your grooming routine, but they work together, not against each other. Beard oil keeps both your facial hair and the skin underneath healthy, and men with itchy beards or sensitive skin see the biggest benefits from using it regularly.

Beard balm, on the other hand, is all about control and styling. It provides the grip needed to tame stubborn hairs and shape your beard exactly the way you want it. Together, oil and balm help your beard look and feel its best.
